[Purpose] This study aims to determine the personal factors of the deaf that influence the selection of occupation and what implications can be given by this case study in fostering and guiding deaf children and adolescents. [Method] Individual in-depth interviews were conducted with four deaf people with various occupation selection factors. [Results] The personal factors affecting job choice by Deaf people included personality, talent, and Deaf identity. The research participants had formed timid personalities as a result of experiencing frequent unpleasant incidents due to their hearing impairment. However, their attitudes became more positive when they learned sign language and participated in their communities. Their new confidence, talent, positive attitudes, and courage based on their Deaf identities played a significant role in their choice of employment. This study’s results showed that Deaf people’s choice of job depends on diverse, organically related factors rather than on a single dominant factor. Considering all the factors that affect the process of choosing a job by Deaf people, it is important that they have opportunities to cultivate healthy Deaf identities. [Conclusion] Emotional interaction and support from the primary caregivers of Deaf children are essential, as is standardizing the communication format with Deaf children. The finding that every research participant had unpleasant experiences at school indicates that appropriate education services and school environments are critical to ensure that Deaf students have a pleasant school experience.

[Purpose] `The purpose of this study was to investigate the perceptions and needs of the sw education participants(instructors, operating teachers and homeroom teachers) who teach and operate sw education(Hope School SW Class) for disabled students for effective sw education. [Method] A questionnaire survey was conducted on 182 sw education participants’through an online method. Response results were analyzed by frequency analysis, ANOVA and  -tests. [Results] First, the perception of sw education participants’about pre-recognition of sw education for disabled students were generally high, the operation of sw education for disabled students was properly conducted and the participation of disabled students was also high. In addition, sw education for disabled students helped improve disabled students' creativity, problem-solving skills, and communication skills. Second, regarding the needs for sw education for disabled students, Unplugged and Physical Computing are needed in educational contents and consideration of the characteristics of disabled students are needed in educational method. [Conclusion] The perception of sw education participants’about recognition of sw education for disabled students were high and effective sw education for disabled students consideration of the characteristics of disabled students are needed. Based on sw education participants’ perceptions and needs, implications were suggested.

[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to develop a survey tool for exploring the current status of career and vocational education of high school students with disabilities and their educational needs. [Method] A survey tool was developed in consideration of connectivity with the primary and secondary career education status survey, which is currently being conducted in the field of general education. The Delphi survey was conducted in two rounds with a total of 26 expertise with knowledge and experience of career and vocational education of students with disabilities. The suitability and importance of the component areas and preliminary items of the career and vocational education survey tool for students with disabilities were evaluated and finalized. [Results] The survey tool consist of 19 items(10 items and 9 sub-items) in 6 areas(‘career and vocational education/curriculum status', ‘career and vocational education experience activity program', ‘career and vocational education program(data)', ‘social participation', ‘career status', ‘awareness of career and vocational education’) and 7 sub-areas. [Conclusion] The implications for future career and vocational education for high school students with disabilities were discussed.

[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in perceptions of collaboration for inclusive education between special education teachers and general education teachers in China. [Method] This study conducted a questionnaire survey on 405 special education teachers and general education teachers of general schools with special classes in China. [Results] First, the Chinese special education teachers and general education teachers had a higher awareness of the importance of collaboration for inclusive education than the level of perception of the performance. The special education teachers had a high level of awareness of the importance of the parents' area, and the general education teachers had a high level of performance in the learning guidance area. Second, in Chinese special education teachers, the parents’ area was found to be an area of a low level of importance but a high level of performance of collaboration for inclusive education, that is, the area of avoiding over-effort. And in the area of learning guidance and life guidance, collaboration was recognized as important, but the level of performance was low, that is, it was a concentration of improvement efforts area. The general education teachers perceived a high level of both importance and performance of collaboration in the area of learning guidance, and it was the sustainability of performance area. In the area of life guidance, the level of importance was high but the performance level was low, that is it was an area of concentration of improvement efforts. [Conclusion] The results provide an implication for the establishment of a system for the settlement of inclusive education in China and the development of programs to improve the professionalism of both special teachers and general teachers.

[Purpose] The population’s status this research aimed to improve the communication environment for the Korean deafblind population by developing haptic signals based on Korean culture. The research question “What haptic signals are to be developed for deafblind people in Korea?” [Method] An overall action research process was implemented three times based on Kemmis and McTaggart’s research model (2007) repeatings the spiral model (Plan → Act & Observe→ Reflect → Revised plan→ Act & Observe → Reflect). Qualitative analysis of the research was carried out utilizing Miles and Huberman’s (1994) three stages of qualitative analysis procedures (Data Reduction → Data Display → Conclusion drawings / Verification) to analyze the qualitative data including interviews, observations (videos, photos, and pictures), and field diaries. [Results] Three rounds of action research were conducted and 74 haptic signals were developed through the research. These include 20 for environmental situations, 16 for emotional expressions, 8 for colors, 6 for people, 8 for food, and 16 for others in detail. [Conclusion] First, the selection criteria for haptic signal words were determined. Second, the research verified the necessity of deafblind people’s participation in this research. Third, haptic signals should be developed simply and easily. Fourth, haptic signals suitable for the situation should be used. Fifth, training is needed for deafblind persons, sign language interpreters, their families, and activity supporters, and such training should be repeated, Sixth, the necessity of continuous development of haptic signals was confirmed.

[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to identify the current status of braille education in Korea and to investigate ways to improve the quality of domestic braille education by analyzing International research trends in braille education. [Method] A total of 46 braille education studies published from 2013 to 2022 were analyzed using the following criteria: publication and year, country/ first author country affiliation, research participants, research methods, and contents analysis. [Results] Results are summarized as follows. First, the most published is JVIB(Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness)(14, 37.0%), and BJVI(British Journal of Visual Impairment) is the second(9, 19.6%), with a total of 23(50.0%) published in two journals. Second, the country with the most studies is the United States(17, 37.0%). Third, in terms of research participants, the visually impaired were the most(22, 51.2%), followed by the visually impaired and sighted(14, 32.6%). Fourth, as for the research methods, experimental studies accounted for more than half of the total(25, 54.3%). Lastly, the contents are classified into four categories: ‘Physical Characteristics of Braille', ‘Ways to Improve the Quality of Braille Education', ‘Teaching and learning Materials', and ‘Instructional Considerations'. [Conclusion] Based on these results, the implications for improving the quality of braille education in Korea were discussed.

[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to investigate the impacts of self-advocacy and self-management training based on Self-Determined Learning Model of Instruction(SDLMI) on self-determination and self-monitoring behavior of adults with intellectual disabilities. [Method] The participants were 9 women with intellectual disabilities who live in residential facilities and their age were ranged from mid-20s to mid-30s. One-group pre-post test group design was applied to examine pre and post statistical differences in self-determination. AB single subject design was utilized to examine self-monitoring behavior of residents. During the self-advocacy training, communication training program and group art therapy were applied to each stage of SDLMI during the self-management training, Self-monitoring strategies were used to monitor subject's daily routine. [Results] As a result of the study, self-advocacy and self-management training based on SDLMI showed statistically significant differences in self-determination between pre and post test. Self-management training was effective on self-monitoring behavior of residents with intellectual disability. The self-monitoring behaviors were maintained until three months after the intervention. [Conclusion] Based on these results, it was concluded that self-advocacy and self-management training based on SDLMI has positive effects on self-determination of residents with intellectual disabilities and mantained after three months later of intervention.

[Purpose] In this study, the Duluth model, which was presented as a multilateral analysis framework for factors of spousal abuse based on women's studies, was applied as a method of analyzing abuse of disabled people, which has been relatively inactive, to discuss the causes of abuse and social components. In addition, this study tried to analyze a movie based on a true story to minimize the sensitivity of abuse and to examine abuse in depth from a holistic perspective. [Method] In this study, 84 scenes out of a total of 91 scenes in the movie were categorized into three perspectives: scenes of the subjective nature of abuse, scenes of the objective nature of abuse, and scenes of the subjective nature of society that could have made abuse possible. In particular, the abuse was analyzed based on the Duluth model, focusing on the subject of the abuse. [Results] The results of analyzing the abuse of disabled people in the movie “Awoke”, which is the case of this study, with the Duluth model are as follows. First, abuse of people with disabilities occurs in the form of multiple abuse, not just one form. Second, people with disabilities who are exposed to social exclusion and dependence are provided with a vulnerable state. Third, abusers can strategically exploit vulnerability, and social, environmental, and cultural factors reinforce the vulnerability of persons with disabilities. [Conclusion] The suggestions of this study are as follows. First, exploitation of vulnerability needs to be considered abuse. Second, follow-up studies for calculating the causes of abuse should be activated. Third, it is necessary to develop a tool for victimization of abuse that can explore attempts to exploit vulnerability and socially constitutive conditions. Fourth, efforts to establish a social safety net to prevent abuse of people with disabilities are needed.
