The Research Institute of Korea Special Education(RIKSE) was established in 2006 based on the ideology of love, light, and freedom. Since its establishment, we have been dedicated to guaranteeing the right to education for all students, including those with disabilities, and to creating an educational community for a future creative society. Thanks to various efforts since its establishment, the RIKSE was selected by the Ministry of Education in 2016 as a recipient of university research institute support projects and has been carrying out projects related to universal learning design and brain-oriented education. Meanwhile, the demand for customized education based on a life-cycle approach is rapidly increasing in the field of special education. In response to these demands, our institute strives to provide research outcomes that can contribute to meeting these goals, specifically for those with disabilities. We also try to actively develop new theories and practical methods that can be shared with the special education community to contribute to the development of this field. We greatly welcome your submission to the Journal of Special Education: Theory and Practice and your participation in the conference hosted by our institute.
