The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of ceramics activity program on the hand function of students with intellectual disabilities and the completion of ceramic art works. Four students with intellectual disabilities who meet the selection criteria of a single case experimental study was designed to among students with intellectual disabilities attending a special school in Busan metropolitan city. The 'pre-test - ceramic activity program - post-test' were executed to an experiment to investigate the effects of ceramics activity program on with students intellectual disabilities hand function and completion of ceramic art works. First, the ceramic activity program was effective in improving the hand function of the students with intellectual disabilities through the dominant hand, the weak hand, and both hands. Especially eye hand coordination and hand agility were improved in post - test than pre - test. It is considered that the ceramic activity program has a positive effect on all work processes such as pinching, round ball making, soil sticking, pushing and palm use, which are important in pottery works. Second, the ceramic activity program has a positive effect on the perfection of pottery works of students with intellectual disabilities. As the hand functions used in various molding techniques such as pinching, gypsum molding, plate molding, and coiling of ceramics activities gradually improved, the completion of ceramic works also improved. In addition, considering the characteristics of learning of students with intellectual disabilities, experience of ceramic activities, preference for soil as a main ingredient of pottery activities, and of ceramic activity programs. It is thought that ceramic works will be completed if they are repeatedly operated by adjusting. Therefore, if the ceramic activity program is carried out considering the characteristics of students with intellectual disabilities, the functions of the advanced hand and both hands as well as the developed dominant hand will be improved. In addition, the improvement of the hand function will be one of the ways to improve the performance of the vocational function, and if it is learned in connection with the vocational education, it will have a great influence on the social independence of the students with intellectual disability.

This study investigated the characteristics of generative naming of Korean-Chinese bilingual children with the comparison to the Korean and Chinese monolingual. It tries : 1) to compare the total number of words, the number of clusters, the size of clusters, and the number of switches in the generative naming of semantic and phonetic, 2) to examine the correlation of the period of stay, reading time, chinese private lesson time in the generative naming of semantic and phonetic, and 3) to investigate lexical effect of four conditions(Korean-only, Chinese-only, Free-switch, Forced-switch)of bilingual children in the generative naming of semantic. Subjects who participated in this study were 15 Korean-Chinese bilinguals and 15 Chinese monolinguals living in China, 15 Korean monolinguals living in Korea in aged fully 11-years old. Bilingual children performed 4 conditions( ‘animals’ category in Korean-only, ‘things to buy in the market’ category in Chinese-only, ‘vegetables’ category in Free-switch, and ‘foods’ category in Forced-switch conditions) in the semantic categories, and /ㄱ/, /ㅅ/, /D/, /L/ in the phonetic. The following were the results of this experiment. First, In the semantic categories of generative naming, there was a significant difference in the number of clusters. Second, In the phonetic categories of generative naming, the total number of words and the number of clusters in chinese phonetic of /D/ were significantly different. Third, the correlation of the period of stay, reading time, Chinese private lesson compared with the semantic and phonetic total number of words. According to the results, there was a significant correlation in chinese private lesson and ‘things to buy in the market’ category in Chinese and then reading time and chinese phonetic of /D/. The fourth, In the generative naming of semantic, we examined lexical effect of four conditions of bilingual children. the result showed less the both-languages conditions than the Korean-only and Chinese-only conditions, and higher Forced-switch condition than Free-switch. This study is meaningful to suggesting standard data about generative naming ability for Korean-Chinese bilingual children.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the grammatical categories how TV news translated into Korean Sign Language. In order to do this, we first select the news with the same subject among the news sent from each broadcasting company. The data used for the analysis are the articles transcribed directly by the researcher while listening anchor’s speaking in the TV news, and KSL transcript written directly by the researcher while looking KSL interpreter’s interpretation demonstrated by ELAN 4.9.4 program. Especially, KSL transcript was reviewed from two Deaf persons and two sign language interpreters. The result of comparing and analyzing the transcripts of broadcasts and how they are realized by Korean sing language with the grammar categorization is such as a declarative sentence, the question sentence, the tense, the aspect, the causation and passivity, the negative sentence. Through this analysis process, the substitution interpretation type which realizes the corresponding language of the source text in a linear arrangement according to the spoken language is frequent in the KSL broadcasting interpretation field. The linear arrangement of vocabulary means that the grammatical category and sentence structure of KSL capitalizing simultaneity, localization in space, and indexing are not fully realized. Therefore, it is necessary to support the studies that collect various interpretation cases in the future.

This study sought to determine whether special education courses improve pre-service physical education teachers’ self-efficacy(SE) toward inclusive physical education. 273 students (M= 197, F= 76) enrolled in physical education teacher education programs in Korea participated in a specially developed survey and multilevel modeling was used to analyze the data. The results revealed that special education courses do indeed have a significant effect on self-efficacy towards teaching students with disabilities in general physical education classes. The study participants reported that they needed to take more than 16 special education courses credits to significantly improve their level of self-efficacy.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the perceptions of the majoring course teachers for CareerㆍVocational Education using STEAM in the special education. The subjects of this study were 589 teachers who are in charge of CareerㆍVocational Education in the majoring course at the special school in korea and the survey was conducted on them. The results of the questionnaire were analyzed the Frequency Analysis was utilized on the questionnaire items of the Nominal Scale which is the free-answer method of the study subjects. The Rank Questions were also performed by the Frequency of Multiple Responses to examine the perceptions of the majoring course teachers. The findings of this study are as follows: First, the goal of CareerㆍVocational Education that the most majoring course teachers in the special schools thought was career attitude and job preparation. The development and dissemination of CareerㆍVocational Education Program are also important, and the role of the special school teachers should play a leading role. Second, it was found in the teacher awareness survey on STEAM education, that more than half of the responding teachers ware aware of STEAM education and thought to be helpful for CareerㆍVocational Education of students with disabilities. In addition, it was shown, that they considered the STEAM-centered CareerㆍVocational Education Program to be necessary and the art-centered STEAM type to be most suitable because arts were interesting and accessible to students with disabilities.

The purpose of the study was to review the current research synthesis on a total of 155 studies of problem behavior of young children with/at risk (34 studies) and without disabilities (121 studies) from 2010 to May, 2017. These studies were analyzed with trends of academic journals, participants, research method, districts/settings, research topics, and independent/dependent variables. The outcomes of research synthesis were presented as follows. First, both studies of young children with/without disabilities have been consistently published since 2010. However, studies of young children without disabilities have been published in quite different types of academic journals while studies of young children at risk/with disabilities were published in limited types of academic journals. Second, participants of the studies of young children without disabilities were mainly teachers and parents while those of young children at risk/with disabilities were mainly themselves and their teachers. Participating children were mostly preschool age in both areas of studies. Studies of young children without disabilities mainly used survey research while studies of young children at risk/with disabilities mainly used single subject design research. Districts of both studies were mostly Seoul and Kyeonggi-do. Third, topics of research studies of young children were mainly young children or their parents' variables related while these of young children at risk/with disabilities were positive behavior supports. Finally, positive behavior support was mainly used as an independent variable and problems behavior were mainly used as a dependent variable in both studies.

The diversity of regular class members is increasing due to factors such as expansion of inclusive education, increase of multicultural students, and the appearance of LERD. In this generalized classroom environment with diversity, Universal Design for Learning(UDL) has been proposed as a way to meet both the educational needs of students and the educational and social needs of improving achievement. UDL offers a variety of practical teaching methods, one of which is a differentiating instruction. The differentiating instruction has been pointed out as a problem in terms of resource limitation, organizational resistance, lack of easy-to-implement framework, although it is a teaching method that appeared before UDL in time. However, through the framework provided by the UDL, differentiating instruction is expanding the opportunity for appropriate flexibility in their implementation. In practice, the UDL and differentiating instruction are complementary, but there is still a lack of research that suggests specific implementation methods that apply both concepts at the same time. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of differentiating instruction strategies according to learner characteristics(readiness, interest, learning profile), components of differentiating instruction(content, process, performance, learning environment), UDL principles(representation, behavior and expression, participation) inherent in differentiating instruction, and implementation of UDL-based differentiating instruction through PAL and UDL Lesson Plan Cycle. It is meaningful that such a series of studies can enhance the possibility of more concrete and realistic UDL-based teaching and learning based on a clear understanding of the relationship between individual concepts.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how knowledge, skills, value and attitude are reflected in social studies, which is the main element of citizenship through analyzing the achievement standards of elementary social studies basic curriculum and unit goals of teacher's guide. For this purpose, I analyzed the goal areas reflected in achievement standards and unit goals of the 2011 revised elementary social studies basic curriculum and teacher's guide. The results of the study are as follows. First, the achievement standards of the elementary social studies basic curriculum are concentrated on the knowledge domain, and the skills, value and attitude domain are not reflected or reflected as a very low weight depending on the grade group. Second, the unit goals presented in the teacher's guide are reflected in the order of knowledge, skills, value and attitude domain, and value and attitude domain are reflected as a very low proportion. Third, there was a lack of consistency between the achievement standards of the social studies basic curriculum and the unit goals of the teachers' guide. Thus, the achievement standards of the current elementary social studies basic curriculum and the unit goals of the teacher's guide are limited in achieving the goals of social studies for the promotion of citizenship for students with disabilities. Therefore, in order to cultivate the citizenship of the students with disabilities, it is necessary to consistently present the achievement standards and the unit goals reflecting the knowledge, skills, value and attitude domain.

The qualitative study was to explore 8 private kindergarten director's perception related to diagnosis and pre-referral intervention of young children with suspected disabilities in private kindergarten. The questionnaire through preliminary discussion which consisted of a semi-structured interviews. In this interview, four major themes and thirteen sub-themes were derived. The four major themes were as follows; discovery of young children with suspected disabilities, difficulties of diagnosis and referral, planning and actual pre-referral intervention, and requests for support. Based on the results of this study, implications for the diagnosis of childhood disability and the necessary system for enhancing the possibility of pre-referral intervention were discussed.

The purpose of this study was to find some difficulties the mothers rearing hearing-impaired and non hearing-impaired children are experiencing and how the mothers feel about the relationship between those children, and finally find the demand of family support for non hearing-impaired children. For the purpose of this study, individual in-depth interviews were conducted on three mothers having hearing-impaired and non hearing-impaired children and nine categories related to the research subject were drawn through qualitative analysis. The analysis of the interviews showed that the mothers have more difficulties rearing hearing-impaired children and felt sorry rather than difficulty for non-disabled. As for the relationship the mothers recognize between hearing-impaired and non hearing-impaired , there are positive and negative aspects at the same time. The mothers confessed that they could not but to neglect the non hearing-impaired and this situation made them feel sorry for their children and they emphasized the need of systematic family support for the non hearing-impaired to cope with pitiful situations and practical problems wisely. As for the types of support, they suggested psychological diagnosis and counseling support for the non hearing-impaired, support program that non-disabled siblings can understand and accept hearing-impaired siblings positively, and family camp program that mothers can participate in with their non hearing-impaired children through the disabled care service support. Based on the study results, the need of family support policies for non hearing-impaired siblings of hearing-impaired siblings and for their mothers was discussed.

Reading is one of the fundamental and critical abilities that young school-age children should acquire. However, in general, multicultural students have difficulties in reading due to language and cultural differences. The purposes of this study were as follows: First, to compare the characteristics of reading fluency, vocabulary knowledge, oral language skill, and listening comprehension and reading comprehension between multicultural students and general students. Second, to know about the correlation of reading ability variables of students with multicultural students and general students. Third, to know about the influence of variables on reading comprehension. For this study, 84 elementary school students(36 multicultural students and 45 general students) were employed and tested by reading fluency, vocabulary knowledge, speaking skill, and listening and reading comprehension. The data analysis method were two-way ANOVA and regression analysis. The results of this study were as follows. First, the performance of multicultural students were lower than general students in reading fluency, vocabulary knowledge, oral language skill, listening comprehension and reading comprehension. Second, reading fluency, vocabulary knowledge, listening comprehension, oral language skil and reading comprehension showed a significant correlation with each other. Third, the influenceable variables for reading comprehension were listening comprehension and vocabulary knowledge. Based on these results, some suggestions were provided for teaching reading to multicultural students.

The purpose of this article was to explore the mothers' opinion on adulthood life of young people with developmental disabilities and to provide basic data in order to improve the quality of life of adults with disabilities. To fulfill this purpose, the researchers conducted the study based on the procedure of grounded theory approach suggested by Strauss and Corbin(1998). The participants were 7 mothers of young people with developmental disabilities residing in Pusan and Ulsan metropolitan city. The results were as follows. First, 110 basic concepts, 32 subcategories and 18 categories were extracted by open coding. Second, during the axial coding, the central phenomenon [the gloomy and unstable future of young people] was emerged. Third, core category [establishment and implementation of strategies for preparation of adulthood life] was identified by selective coding. The stage of type analysis drew out 3 types『complacent attitude』, 『wait-and-see attitude』, 『future-oriented attitude』. Furthermore, the stage of process analysis drew out 4 processes『confused and unstable stage』, 『solution searching stage』, 『role awakening stage』, 『role enactment stage』. Last, researchers combined the results of this article and presented situation model. Special educational approach for quality of life of adults with disabilities and improvement plans for settled life security were also provided.

본 연구에서는 경험학습 이론을 접목하여 예비 과학교사들이 장애학생을 위한 통합교육환경의 과학교육에 대해 학습할 수 있도록 고안 된 과학 교사 교육 프로그램을 소개하였다. 연구자들은 성찰을 통한 실천에 중점을 둔 경험학습 이론을 기반으로 15주차 프로그램을 개발하고, 예비 과학교사들이 프로그램에 참여하면서 장애학생들에 대한 인식 및 통합교육 환경의 과학교육에 있어 과학교사의 역할을 성찰할 수 있도록 하였다. 본 연구에서는 강좌에서 수행된 활동들의 내용과 의도를 자세히 기술하고, 각각이 예비 과학교사들의 통합교육 환경의 과학교육에 대한 인식에 어떠한 작용을 하였는지 규명하였다. 또한 수행된 경험학습 강좌 전반에 대해 평가함으로써, 교과 교수법 중심의 교사교육이 통합교육 환경의 과학교육의 달성에 필요함을 논의하였다. 이를 통해, 예비 교사교육에 있어 경험학습의 중요성을 역설하고 한국의 특수교육 및 과학교사교육, 교사들의 전문성 향상에 있어서 변화의 필요성을 제언하였다.

This study aims to reveal the priority of instructional design competencies necessary to special education teachers, by analyzing the importance and performance of instructional design competencies of special education teachers. For this, a survey tool was developed based on the 23 standards of instructional design competencies suggested by IBSTPI. Data was collected from 221 special education teachers participating in a group training. Using IPA, the degree of needs was analyzed in accordance with the whole special education teachers, service institution, and level of school. The main results are like following. First, the instructional design competency the most preferentially needed to the whole special education teachers was 'the design of curriculum and educational program'. Second, regarding differences in needs of instructional design competencies depending on each service institution, there were different needs like 'various-types of effective communication' and 'needs evaluation ability' to special school teachers, and 'selection/application of instructional design development model', etc., to special class teachers. Third, regarding differences in needs of instructional design competencies depending on the level of school, there were different needs like 'application of researches/theories of instructional design area', etc., to elementary special education teachers, and 'various-types of effective communication', etc., to secondary special education teachers.
