[Purpose] The purpose of this study is to organize the historical development of paralympic-ice hockey by analyzing its development, the growth of para-ice hockey by year, the process by which it was introduction, its development, and the current position of para-ice hockey. [Method] The topic of para-ice hockey in Korea was analyzed through literature and releases papers relating to para-ice hockey, press releases(approximately 8,000 cases), and advice from relevant individuals. [Results] First, Korea's first para-ice hockey team was formed throught the efforts of coach Lee Sung-geun and director Park Chang-il. Second, with the establishment of a business team in the Gangwon-do office, the base of all winter sports was expanded. Third, ten years after the introduction of para-ice hockey in Korea, the national team won the right to participate in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Paralympics. Fourth, the Korea team won the frist bronze medal in the history of ice hockey in Korea at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Paralympics. Fifth, today, five years after the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Paralympics, the situation of para-ice hockey is still difficult. [Conclusion] Although para-ice hockey was introduced less than 20 years ago, it was possible to win a bronze medal at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Paralympics through the efforts, the systematic support, and the interest of the players.

[Purpose] This study aimed to explore the experiences of special education teachers in implementing school-wide distant education during the COVID-19 pandemic. [Method] The researchers developed a semi-structured questionnaire and facilitated focus interview sessions with eight teachers working at a private special school in Daejeon, South Korea. Interview transcripts were analyzed verbatim for categorization using the constant comparison method. [Results] Despite several challenges were identified, including a lack of time, communication with students and parents, and excessive paperwork, the participants addressed that distance education led to a better quality of teaching, efficient communication with parents, and more professional development opportunities. [Conclusion] The findings provide insightful knowledge on improving distance education's quality as part of special school curriculum in post-COVID era.

[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to examine the keywords of domestic research on music therapy for intellectual disabilities (ID) and autism spectrum disorders (ASD), and to clarify the structure by analyzing the semantic network between keywords. [Method] A total of 866 keywords of 238 types were extracted from 197 papers published on the subject of music therapy for ID and ASD in journals between 2000 and 2022. To examine past research trends, the frequency of the appearance of keywords presented in the literature was calculated. By utilizing a UCINET6 program, NetDraw was visualized after analyzing the structural properties, centrality, and ego networks. [Results] In the ID literature, keywords such as "music therapy,'' "child/adolescent with ASD,'' "child/adolescent with ID,'' "social skills,'' "group music therapy,'' "communication skills,'' and "problematic behavior'' were frequently used. In the ASD literature, keywords such as "music therapy,'' "child/adolescent with ASD,'' "child/adolescent with ID,'' "social skills,'' "group music therapy,'' "communication skills,'' and "problematic behavior'' were frequently used. The network had 68 nodes connected by 926 links, and the density was 0.2. In addition, keywords such as "music therapy,'' "child/youth with ASD,'' "child/youth with ID,'' "social skills,'' and "singing activity'' displayed high centrality. In the ego network of "child/adolescent with ID,'' "singing activity,'' "social skills,'' "music intervention,'' "attention concentration,'' and "vocabulary ability'' had high connection strength. In the "child/adolescent with ASD'' ego network, "social skills,'' "stereotyped behaviors,'' "language disorders,'' "communication skills,'' and "problematic behaviors'' had high connection strength. "Music therapy'' showed a strong connection with "child/adolescent with ASD,'' "social skills,'' "music education,'' and "music intervention.'' [Conclusion] This study identified the structure of keywords that were important in music therapy research for ID and ASD in the past, and grasped the trends of past research. Proposals for follow-up studies of comprehensive music therapy studies are also discussed.

[Purpose] The purpose of this study is to identify the general characteristics of single-subject studies in Korea related to sensory integration interventions for intellectual and autism spectrum disorders. It also aims to grasp the quality level of domestic studies using the quality indicators for evidence-based practice suggested by the Council for Exceptional Children(CEC). [Method] In this study, 11 single-subject studies of sensory integration interventions published in domestic journals from 2000 to 2021 were analyzed. The general characteristics of the study were identified by dividing it into publication year, participants, study design, independent, and dependent variables, and the quality of the study was analyzed based on 22 indicators in eight areas presented by the CEC. [Results] In domestic single-subject studies of sensory integration intervention for intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorders, there were more studies addressing intellectual disabilities than autism spectrum disorders, and it was found that various study designs, such as AB, ABA, and multiple-baseline designs, were used. The sensory integration intervention strategy used traditional sensory integration as the main strategy, and most studies used problem behavior and stereotyped behavior as dependent variables. As a result of the analysis according to the CEC quality indicators, there was no study that satisfied all indicators, and it was confirmed that the overall satisfaction rate was low. [Conclusion] Domestic single-subject studies related to sensory integration interventions for intellectual and autism spectrum disorders should be conducted more actively, and efforts to improve the quality of the research are needed. Based on this, sensory integration interventions should be applied to the fields of intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder intervention..

[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to compare differences between the two environments experienced by hearing-impaired students, and to explore the factors that hearing-impaired students thought were necessary for a pleasant school life and their opinions about inclusive education. [Method] To this end, the study conducted individual in-depth interviews with seven hearing-impaired middle and high school students in China, who transferred from the inclusive learning environment of general schools to the special learning environment of special schools. [Results] First, based on their experiences of school life at general schools, it is very difficult for hearing-impaired students to continue their learning activities at general schools. Second, They were able to have an emotionally stable school life through positive reciprocal relationships with friends and teachers. They described their friends at special schools as kind classmates who helped them in any situations, and teachers as kind teachers who cared for them with patience. Third, Hearing-impaired students always wanted to interact with teachers, which suggested that their learning and feeling a pleasure in such an environment were likely to generate positive effects even in academic aspects. In addition, hearing-impaired students could gain confidence through good friendships, and therefore, if interactions between hearing-impaired and normally hearing students are facilitated and they can build friendships in a relaxed atmosphere of mutual understanding, it can become good conditions for a pleasant school life. [Conclusion] In terms of inclusive education, In consideration of academic aspects, they stated that they could learn more knowledge and build friendships with various friends at general schools. However, they found it difficult to understand their lessons due to practical issues and had limitations in class participation, and thus preferred special schools.

[Purpose] The purpose of this study is to explore the philosophical implications of guaranteeing sports rights for the disabled. [Method] To this end, the analysis was conducted focusing on literature related to sports rights. [Result] The results are as follows. Sports rights of the disabled are guaranteed by basic sports rights, as the disabled cannot be an exception. All human beings have the right to enjoy sports. For the disabled, sports rights have three philosophical implications: first, their physical activity needs and sports enjoyment rights; second, the independent participation of going from spectators to participants; third, the improvement of sports human rights. Good lives for the disabled should be protected through the guarantee of the sports rights of the disabled. Life is not divided into disabled and non-disabled people, but all humans have the right to live happily regardless of whether they are disabled or not. It has a philosophical meaning that has been guaranteed by law. [Conclusion] The guarantee of sports rights for the disabled can be developed through sports facilities, sports programs, and training sports leaders for the disabled. The state and local governments should prepare practical measures and policies to guarantee the sports rights of disabled and non-disabled people.

[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the 3D composition subject with applying flipped learning on learning motivation, learning ability, and teaching effects of college students with hearing impairments. [Method] The subjects of the study were 35 college students with hearing impairments, and the ‘3D composition’ subject was designed according to the flipped learning model. Changes in learning motivation and learning ability were analyzed using a Paired samples t-test for pre-post results, the teaching effects were analyzed technically, and the learning experience was analyzed after an interview with the research subject. [Results] The ‘3D composition’ subject to which flipped learning was applied had a positive effect on learners’ learning motivation, learning ability, and teaching effects. The results of the analysis of participants’ interviews confirmed that flipped learning was a topic that helped students improve their learning interest, self-directed learning ability, cooperative learning ability, information literacy, and develops logical thinking ability. [Conclusion] First, flipped learning had a positive effect on the learning motivation and learning ability of college students with hearing impairments. Second, flipped learning had a positive effect on the teaching effects of college students with hearing impairments. Third, it provided a positive learning experience for all flipped learning participants. The results of this study provide positive implications for the expansion and application of college students with hearing impairments to art major-related subjects and other major class subjects.

[Purpose] This study aimed to investigate the level of importance and performance, difficulties in performance, and to suggest methods for improvement in diagnosis/evaluation and selection of students who need special education by teachers of Special Education Support Centers. [Method] Eighty-two special education teachers of 18 Special Education Support Centers in Gyeongsangnam-do participated in this study. A survey was used to collect data. [Results] The main results were as follows. First, while the level of importance was over ‘high’ in 30 items related to diagnosis/evaluation and selection, the level of performance was over ‘average’, and in comparison between the level of importance and performance, the latter was significantly lower than the former in 27 items. Second, major problems or difficulties in order were lack of workforce and heavy workload, lack of guidelines for selecting students who need special education, and lack of professionalism or experience of teachers in charge of diagnosis/evaluation. Third, concerning major methods for improvement, teachers suggested placement of sufficient workforce or experts in charge of diagnosis/evaluation, strengthening of education/training to increase teachers’ competence for diagnosis/evaluation, and supplementation of guidelines or manuals to select students who need special education. [Conclusion] Summary and discussions for improvement directions on the role of diagnosis/evaluation and selection in Special Education Support Centers on the bases of results were presented.

[Purpose] The purpose of this study is to investigate the necessity of providing deaf education teacher certificates by subdividing it from the special education teacher certificate and to scrutinize an appropriate way to nurtures teacher preparation program and placement. [Method] Research method was Delphi Survey. Fourteen deaf education experts participated in this study. [Results] First, participants indicated that there are limitations to cultivating qualified teachers for students with disabilities under the current special education teacher preparation programs. Therefore, they recognized to provide teacher certificate according to type of disabilities. Second, participants indicated that graduate programs or teacher’s in-service training programs are appropriate for cultivating qualified deaf education teachers, instead of undergraduate programs. In addition, they stated that the deaf education teacher preparation program has to provide core courses such as curriculum and teaching methods, literacy education, basic to advanced sign languages, Deaf culture and society, instruction, bilingual education, and counseling. Third, participants highlighted that the deaf education teachers need incentives to be placed in the educational institutions for deaf students as well as administrative support to continue to teach deaf students. [Conclusion] This study is meaningful in that it presents specific plans for the deaf education teacher preparation programs and placement for the deaf education.

This study analyzes research trends related to the rights of persons with disabilities published in Korea since 2000 and conducts network text analysis on the main subjects of research since the ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities(CRPD) in 2009. Through this, the status quo and structure of disability rights research were interpreted, and the subdivided trends of research that can be seen through the cluster analysis were identified to suggest the direction of subsequent research. As a result of the study, ‘human rights education' showed a high influence not only on the network map and the overall network map after the ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, but also on the cluster analysis results. However, education is mentioned only to a specific age or educational institution, and research on vocational education that is directly related to the lives of persons with disabilities needs to be treated as human rights education. In terms of welfare, the main influence of definitional expressions such as disability or human rights sensitivity, prejudice, and human rights awareness was higher than the law. In addition, discussions about "residential facilities”, which are nodes directly related to the lives of people with disabilities, emerged in earnest in the network after the ratification of the Convention. It seems that the paradigm of the actual state and perception of residential facilities is shifting to the discussion of deinstitutionalization policy. Suggestions for further research include a closer look at how much disability rights have improved since the ratification of the UN CRPD. To this end, it is also meaningful to analyze the feelings of persons with disabilities about human rights violations. On the other hand, various educational programs are required to be improved to cultivate human rights sensitivity. Finally, empirical research on employment and labor rights directly related to the lives of persons with disabilities is needed.

[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to analyze visual acuity and health behaviors of elementary, middle and high school students with unaided or corrected vision of 0.3 or less variables. [Method] Using IBM SPSS Statistics 23.0, the national health examination sample survey data of 1,733 students with unaided vision and 161 students with corrected vision of 0.3 or less were analyzed. [Results] In students with unaided vision of 0.3 or less, there was a significant difference in left-eye vision by gender but there were no significant differences in right eye vision and the difference value of visual acuity between both eyes. Also, there were significant differences in both eye vision and the difference value of visual acuity between both eyes by school level but there was no significant difference by city size. In students with unaided vision of 0.3 or less, there were no significant differences in left and right eye vision and the difference value of visual acuity between both eyes by gender. However, there were significant differences in both eye vision by school level, and there were significant differences in both eye vision and the difference value of visual acuity between both eyes by city size. Based on the health indicators of the Ministry of Education, it was confirmed that the students needed to improve their health behavior according to overall vision-related health variables such as nutrition and eating habits, physical activities, the Internet and games. [Conclusion] Students with vision below 0.3 require a vision health promotion program that considers general characteristic variables (gender, school level, city size) and vision-related health variables to maintain vision and prevent further vision loss. In addition, it is necessary to check whether the students' vision status is unaided vision or corrective vision, and to pay attention to the difference in vision between the two eyes in consideration of the importance of anisometropia.
